Richmond Hill, Ontario

The Summit was founded in 1912, the ninth golf club in the Toronto area. The course was originally laid out by George Cumming, Head Pro at Toronto Golf Club, and George S. Lyon, the top amateur golfer at that time. In 1919 the course, as it is much seen today, was designed by the well-respected and prolific golf course architect, Stanley Thompson, in the same spirit as his other famous courses: Capilano in Vancouver, Banff Springs and Jasper Park in Alberta, Westmount in Kitchener. Like all of them, The Summit stands as a magnificent testimony to his unswerving philosophy of using natural surroundings to enhance the golfing experience.
